Opposition Challenges Kolesnikov's Detention

Opposition Challenges Kolesnikov's Detention

8 April 2008

Concorde Capital: Although this case may seem like a suspicious attempt by the new government to eliminate the opposition, we do not foresee any significant impact on the electorate from the opposition’s protest, as the case is strictly being conducted as a criminal investigation. If the arrest proves to be a mistake, President Viktor Yushchenko may react by sacking Lutsenko, who represents the socialist party. His removal could be good for Yushchenko?s party in the 2006 parliamentary election campaign.
