Deputies Say No To Recount, Yushchenko To Speak In The Rada.

Deputies Say No To Recount, Yushchenko To Speak In The Rada.

4 April 2008

The Verkhovna Rada is meeting for the last time today before the new deputies are sworn in. In their last performance the Rada voted not recount the March 26th vote. The President’s press service also announced that Yushchenko plans to speak in the Rada today about the results of the election and possible coalitions. Concorde Capital:  The Rada’s refusal to recount the vote came as no surprise, as the three largest parties said they were against it. Several prominent deputies whose parties did not make it over the 3% barrier have put on a good show, likely with the hope of signing on with one of the other parties. Coalition talks seem to have ground to a standstill with the Socialist rejecting Our Ukraine’s coalition agreement, however, the publishing of the election results (likely next week), should bring life back to the talks.
