The Rada Strips Local Deputies Of Immunity.

During its last meeting the Verkhovna Rada voted to strip local council deputies of their legal immunity.  The abolishment of this immunity, allows city council deputies to be charged and punished for criminal activity. The bill was supported by 296 deputies (226 votes are needed to pass a law). The only faction that abstained from voting was the Party of Regions, only one of the party’s deputies voted in favour of the bill.
