TodaytheNational Electricity Regulation Commission (NERC) decided to increase electricity tariffs for households starting on May 1, 2006 by 25%. Concorde Capital: Note than a similar decision was approved by the NERC in January, but because of protests by the Rada, it was postponed. Now, with nobody to “protect” citizens from tariff growth (after the elections Ukrainian politicians seem to be a bit more sensible), the NERC’s decree is likely to be implemented. This is a positive move for all industrial consumers, which will now pay less for the household electricity consumption. Still, even with increased residential tariffs, households will still pay less than half of the cost for the electricity they use. We expect the further growth of residential tariffs.
