Another Foreign Retailer Announces Plans For Ukraine

On Friday, the Russian retail group Vester, announced that it was seeking land to open several super and hypermarkets in Ukraine. According to Vester’s Ukrainian consultant, Sergey Khomenko, the company is in talks to open two stores in shopping malls in Dnipropetrovsk and Khelmetsky and plans to open 60 new supermarkets and 60 hypermarkets in Russia, Ukraine, Belarus and Kazakhstan by 2011. The company is seeking to attract roughly USD 900 mln to support this project. Currently Vester has over 180 shops under its brand, most of which are located in Russia’s Kaliningrad region.
