Ukraine Reaches WTO Agreement With 2 More Countries.

17 March 2008

Ukraine’s Economic Minister Yurii Yatsenuk announced that Ukraine has signed mutual trade agreements with Armenia and Colombia. Ukraine still needs to sign bilateral trade agreements with Australia, Kyrgyzstan, Panama and Taiwan. Concorde Capital:  Aftersigning an agreement with the United States, Ukraine’s WTO bid has been in high gear.  Australia is the biggest obstacle left for Ukraine, however, Yatsenuk said that both sides were actively seeking an agreement and that he was optimistic it would be done soon. Ukraine also needs the Rada to pass several laws bringing the country’s laws in line with WTO standards. The economic ministry said the country would join the WTO this summer.  We are taking rumors that Russia may join the WTO in the next few weeks with a grain of salt.
