Privatization of Stakes in 16 Oblenergos To Go Ahead

Privatization of Stakes in 16 Oblenergos To Go Ahead

16 March 2008

The Ministry of Energy and the State Property Fund have reached an agreement yesterday to sell stakes in 16 Oblenergos, according to Interfax. No other details were announced. Alexander Paraschiy: We believe plans will move ahead with the sale of “blocking” shares (more than 25%, less than 40%) in several Oblenergos since the stake sees no gain in retaining these stakes. Before the privatizations can take place, the government must amend its resolution on the National Energy Company (NC ECU), which specifies the Oblenergo stakes it owns.
