Foreign Banks Continue to Flow Into Ukraine

According to the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU), it has received applications from Credit Suisse and the Bank of Cyprus to open representative offices in Ukraine. In order to open offices in the country, foreign banks must register with the NBU. In 2006, representative offices of the following banks were registered by the NBU: UBS AG (Switzerland), American Express Ltd. (USA), Aizkraukles Banka (Latvia), Swedbank AB (Sweden) and MKB Saturn (Russia).
