Ukraine's Finance Minister Resigns.

16 February 2008

Ukraine’s Finance Minister and head of the Reform & Order Party, Viktor Pynzenyk has handed in his resignation. Sources close to Pynzenyk claim he decided to resign due to displease with Ukraine’s gas agreement with RosUkrenergo. Concorde Capital: The deal with RosUkrenergo is taking on water and sinking fast. Yesterday, the President basically washed his hands of the company and opened the door to renegotiations. Now Pynzenyk, whose party was part of the “People’s Power” coalition that brought Yushchenko to power has resigned. Russia has said it is not willing to renegotiate but at this pace it doesn’t look like the deal is going to be able to hold on much longer.
