President Urges Cabinet to Elaborate Land Legislation by March 1

President Yushchenko urged the Cabinet to elaborate land legislation and put forward to Verkhovna Rada, reported Interfax. Draft bill about land market and state land cadastre is to be handed to Rada by March 1. Amendments to the Land Code must be worked out by April 1. Olha Pankiv: Adoption of the bills on land market and cadastre will automatically lift the moratorium on the sale of agricultural land in Ukraine. We expect parliamentary debates over the bills to take some time, though given interest in canceling the moratorium by Ukraine’s major political forces, we confirm our earlier expectation for moratorium to be lifted in 2008.
