Industrial Output Up 5.7% yoy in January

According to the State Statistics Committee, industrial output surged 5.7% yoy in January 2008. Manufacturing production rose 5.4% yoy, while utilities and mining climbed 11.3% and 3.8%, respectively. We expect industrial output growth to reach 9.8% yoy in 2008, driven mainly by the machine building, metallurgy and food industries.
