Cabinet to Consider Privatization of Ukrtelecom Today

The Deputy Head of the State Property Fund, Dmytro Parfenenko, is going to present the privatization plan of Ukrtelecom (UTEL: HOLD) to Ukraine’s Cabinet of Ministers today, according to Ekonomicheskie Izvestia. The plan should stipulate the method and schedule of the privatization/placement of Ukrtelecom shares. No details on the plan are yet available. Alexander Paraschiy: According to the government’s preliminary plan, a 67.8% stake would be privatized in 2008, while the state will retain a 25% stake. Two methods are possible: selling a single 67.8% block at open tender, or selling 60% via tender and placing 7.8% blocks of shares on stock exchanges.
