EU Raises Ukraine's Metal Import Quota

The European Commission’s Ukrainian Office announced last week that it had raise Ukraine’s quota for metal imports by 315 ths mt to 1.32 mln mt for 2007. The new quota still needs to be ratified by both the EU and Ukrainian governments and is expected to on into effect in May.  A spokesman from the European Commission’s press service also added that the EU hoped to form a free trade zone lifting all restrictions on Ukrainian metal imports following Ukraine’s entrance into the WTO.
