The poll ratings of The People’s Servant party,
launched by President Zelensky, have extended their slide ahead of the October
local elections, according to the latest poll released by the Rating
Sociological Group on Aug. 6. It enjoys 25.9% support among decided voters,
compared to 17.6% for the pro-Putin Opposition Platform For Life, 15.7% for the
European Solidarity party, and 10.4% for the Fatherland party. About 20% of
respondents said the country was going in the right direction, while 68% said
it isn’t. The poll was conducted on Aug. 5 among 2,000 respondents.
Zenon Zawada: Zelensky was elected by a coalition of voters seeking to (1) end the
war in Donbas, (2) end the corruption of Poroshenko and (3) improve living
conditions. That coalition is now dissolving as Zelensky has failed to satisfy any
of its segments. The Russian-oriented segment is increasingly supporting the
Opposition Platform, while pro-Western voters are increasingly flowing to the
European Solidarity party. Those opposed to the farmland market launched by the
People’s Servant have gone to Tymoshenko’s Fatherland party. Most of The
People’s Servant current supporters are those who think President Zelensky is a
decent guy and like his strictly short-term, pragmatic approach to politics,
not favoring neither the pro-Western nor pro-Russian forces.
