Ukraine nearly broke its single-day record for
COVID-19 cases (caused by the coronavirus), with 1,106 infections recorded on
July 24, according to the statistics of the National Security and Defense
Council. The single-day record of 1,109 cases was reached on June 26. New
infections declined to 920 on July 25 and 807 on July 26.
Nonetheless, Health Minister Maksym Stepanov told a
press briefing the morning of July 27 that he remains concerned. “Regardless of
all the research performed on the weekend, fewer people turned to doctors on
Sunday. All the same, we have a very high level of illnesses – 807 individuals.
So the situation is quite tense, we are convinced,” Stepanov said.
An estimated 11 people died from the COVID-19 disease
on July 26, compared to 15 on July 25 and 19 on July 24. Recoveries reached 315
on July 26, compared to 310 on July 25 and 611 on July 24.
Zenon Zawada: The last
week marks the third splash of the first wave of the coronavirus in Ukraine.
Casualties remain low, making the situation stable overall.
