Ukrainian Railways gets new head

Ukrainian Railways gets new head

16 April 2020

Ukraine’s Cabinet of Ministers decided on Apr. 15 to
support the removal of Željko Marček from the position of acting CEO of
Ukrainian Railways (RAILUA) and appointed Ivan Yuryk as new acting CEO,
Infrastructure Minister Vladyslav Krykliy wrote in social media. Recall, in
early March, media reported that the company’s supervisory board decided to remove Marček
from the position of the company’s head. The appointment of a new CEO requires
the announcement of a competition, and these selection processes have been
frozen during the quarantine period. Yuryk has worked in the finance ministry,
the supervisory board of Ukrainian Railways and on the management board of the
company responsible for finance.

Alexander Paraschiy: We deem the
appointment of Yuryk as positive for the company. In these challenging times,
when freight traffic is falling due to an overall decline in economic activity,
the company’s key focus should be in financial management, for which Yuryk
looks well-prepared. As before, we expect the company will be able to get
through this temporary crisis.
