Viktor Slauta, Ukraine’s Deputy Minister for Agricultural Policy, said last week at a government meeting that he expected the domestic grain harvest to total 42 mln mt in 2010, down 4 mln mt from 2009 due to unfavorable weather conditions, according to local news reports. Slauta said the wheat harvest would be about 17.5 mln mt, corn – 11.8 mln mt and barley – 12 mln mt. Slauta said about 18 mln mt of grains would be available for export.
