Astarta Increases Sugar Production 79.5% yoy In 2006

Astarta (AST PW), Ukraine’s fourth largest sugar producer, increased white sugar production by 79.5% yoy in 2006 to 157 ths mt. The company also increased its share of the Ukrainian sugar market by 1.52% yoy to 6.15%. In August, Astarta placed a 18.8% stake on the Warsaw Stock Exchange for USD 31.6 mln. The company has said it is looking to sell more shares over the next year and a half as part of its plans to capture to capture 10% of the Ukrainian sugar market by 2010.
