Avangard increases egg output by 35% yoy in 2011

Avangard (AVGR LI), the largest egg producer in Ukraine, reported yesterday shell egg production grew 34.7% yoy to 5.955 bln pieces in 2011. Sales to third parties reportedly increased 25% yoy to 4.862 bln, while its average selling price increased 12.3% yoy to UAH 0.64 per egg, ex VAT. The company said sales through supermarkets in 2011 increased to 30% of total third-party sales, up from 16% a year before. Total exports of shell eggs in 2011 amounted to 295 mln pieces (5.0% of total output, up 74.6% yoy). The company’s total poultry flock at end-2011 increased 3.3% yoy to 25.1 mln heads, out of which laying hens amounted to 20.5 mln (+9.6% yoy). In its dry egg products segment, the company raised production to 12.1 kt, up 18.6% yoy with its average selling price contracting by 1.9% yoy to USD 8.05/kg.
