AvtoKrAZ Wins Tender To Deliver Trucks To Afghanistan

Ukriane’s monopoly large truck producer AvtoKrAZ (KRAZ: HOLD) won a tender for the delivery of trucks to Afghanistan. The number of trucks and terms of the deal were not disclosed. KRAZ saw its truck sales grow 2.5 times yoy in 2M07 to 617 vehicles. In addition the company boosted its truck output 46% yoy in 2M07 to 641 vehicles. KRAZ also saw its automobile output grow 52.5% yoy in February to 340 cars. Earlier this month, KRAZ signed a deal to provide 100 large trucks to the Algerian government. As part of the deal KRAZ will be the only official dealer of KRAZ trucks in Algeria. Olha Pankiv: KrAZ been working to get back in to the Afghan market for two years. The country’s civil and military needs make it an attractive market for KrAZ trucks. In 2005 we projected the delivery of 400 trucks to this country, which is now likely to be realized in 2007-08.
