Azovmash boosts production 40% yoy in 2008

According to Interfax, Azovmash, which includes Azovzahalmash (AZGM) and Mariupol Heavy Machinery (MZVM), raised output 39.9% yoy in 2008 to UAH 5.9 bln (USD 766 mln). For the year, the holding produced 9.3 mln freight railcars, including 4.6 mln cisterns (+11.4% yoy), 3.1 mln open freight wagons (+17.8% yoy), 459 covered railcars, 387 car carriers (+1.5x yoy) and 796 platforms (+3x yoy). Exports amounted to 76.4% of total sales with deliveries to Russia, Algeria, India, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Hungary and elsewhere.
