The Russian company United Transport Technology has partnered with the Bogdan Corporation and the Zaporizhia Automobile Plant (ZAZ) to build a plant to produce automobiles, trucks and buses in the Nyzhny Novgorod region of Russia. The plant is expected to be completed in 2009 and will have an annual capacity of 25,000 Chevrolet and Lanos cars; 6,000 Bogdan buses; and 25,000 trucks. Olha Pankiv: We expect this expansion to benefit the companies due to projected growth in the demand for automobiles and buses in Russia. While the former is expected to grow at 10% annually by 2010, the middle-size bus market (Bogdan’s niche) is expected to double by that time to reach USD 200 mln.
