Centrenergo records UAH 244 mln net loss in 2009

Ukrainian power generator Centrenergo (UX: CEEN UK) reported yesterday that it had a net loss of UAH 244.0 mln in 2009. Yegor Samusenko: This figure implies that Centrenergo posted a UAH 27 mln net loss in 4Q09, upgrading its net margins by 3pp qoq to -2% in 4Q09. We attribute improved profitability to higher output prices that Centrenergo and all GenCos were able to receive in 4Q09 after the National Electricity Regulatory Commission started increasing retail tariffs in November 2009.
