The Kyiv District Administrative Court, led by the
scandalous Chief Judge Pavlo Vovk, ruled on Jan. 4 to remove lustrated status
from Mykola Chynchyn, who led the division for investigating serious crimes in
the Internal Affairs Ministry during the EuroMaidan, the court announced on Jan.
11 on its website. The court required the Internal Affairs Ministry to appeal
to the Justice Ministry to remove Chynchyn from its register of officials
targeted for lustration for their persecution of the EuroMaidan. It decided
that not enough evidence was offered for Chynchyn to have been lustrated.
Chynchyn filed the complaint after being denied a position he applied for with
the Internal Affairs Ministry in the fall.
Zenon Zawada: Judge Pavlo Vovk faces prosecution for serious crimes
alleged by the National
Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine. So it seems he has decided to go full speed
in satisfying the requests of the pro-Russian forces, who have enjoyed a
revival and return to power under the Zelensky administration. As a result,
almost every major institution in Ukraine has become a platform for the battle
between pro-Russian and pro-Western forces, freezing the country in moving
decisively in either direction. President Zelensky has decided to play the role
of an indifferent referee, which is having its consequences as his electorate is gradually shifting allegiance to the overtly pro-Russian and
pro-Western political parties.
