CPI down 0.2%, PPI up 1.8% in August

7 September 2009

Ukraine’s State Statistics Committee said on Friday that consumer prices in August were 0.2% lower mom, but were up 8.2% YTD. Producer prices rose 1.8% mom during the period (+6.8% YTD). Mykyta Mykhaylychenko: Annual inflation equaled 15.3% yoy in August vs. 15.5% yoy in July. Under depressed domestic consumer demand, hryvnya depreciation and increasing administratively-regulated prices create upward pressure on CPI. We expect consumer prices to go up by 14-15% in 2009.
