CPI up 0.8% mom, PPI 1.8% mom in September

7 October 2009

Ukraine’s consumer price index rose 0.8% mom in September and 9.1% YTD, the State Statistics Committee announced yesterday. CPI decreased 0.2% mom in August. The producer price index grew 3.6% mom last month, notably higher than the +1.8% mom in August and the highest monthly increase since July 2008; PPI is up 10.6% YTD. Mykyta Mykhaylychenko: Annual inflation decelerated from 15.3% in August to 15.0% in September. The only significant contributor to this slowdown came from low utility prices increase as the government has not changed gas prices for the population. For the rest of the year, we expect no significant changes in CPI, with annual inflation no higher than its current level of 15%.
