84% of forecasted sugar beets planted in 2008

Ukrainian agricultural companies have planted 402 ths ha with sugar beets this spring, 84% of the amount forecasted by the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, said Deputy Minister Mykola Yarchuk. He said that less sown crops than expected were related to unfavorable weather conditions and declining sugar prices on the domestic market.
