Alfa Bank Ukraine makes syndicated loan repayment

Alfa Bank Ukraine makes syndicated loan repayment

19 October 2009

Alfa Bank Ukraine repaid USD 23.5 mln and EUR 26.9 mln on a syndicated loan it took out in October 2008, Interfax reported on Friday. Alfa Bank said that it was its last large external debt payment due this year. Alfa drew the two-tranche syndicated loan at LIBOR+2% and EURIBOR+2%, respectively. Mykyta Mykhaylychenko: Earlier, in mid-September, Alfa fully met its obligation on series F and G local bonds, executing put option for the amount of UAH 600 mln (USD 74 mln). The bonds matured in September 2012. After restructuring its outstanding Eurobonds in July 2009 for a total of USD 850 mln in new 2012 notes, Alfa’s desire to repay its debts indicates the lender’s confidence in its funding sources with regard to future repayments, in our view.
