An-70 tests to be conducted in 2012

12 March 2012

Russia and Ukraine plan to conduct initial flight tests of the An-70 aircraft in 2012, the Russian defense minister said last Wednesday (via Interfax). The An-70, a medium range military transport aircraft, is equipped with D-27 engines from Motor Sich (MSICH UK).

Roman Dmytrenko: After the allocation of USD 43 mln from Ukraine’s 2012 state budget to complete the final stage of An-70 development in January, the project seems to finally be moving ahead. The Russian Defense Ministry has repeatedly confirmed plans to purchase up to 60 An-70s by 2020. If executed in full, this contract would translate into an estimated USD 1.1 bln in revenues for Motor Sich in 2013-2020.
