Astara To Provide Sugar To One Of Europe's Largest Champagne Makers.

In the company’s monthly news letter, Astarta (AST: PW), one of Ukraine’s largest sugar producers and the first Ukrainian company to be listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange, announced that it had signed a contract with the Artyomovsk Winery to provide the latter with sugar. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. The Artyomovsk Winery is one of Europe’s largest producers of champagne using traditional bottling technology. In related news, Astarta also issued a press release stating that it had finished its sowing campaign for 2007. According to the company, roughly 23,000 hectares of sugar beet were planted an increase of 50% yoy.
