Azarov: There will be no new gas war with Russia

6 September 2011

Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov said yesterday that there will be no gas war with Russia, Interfax reported yesterday, citing comments made in a TV interview over the weekend. Azarov said Ukraine will honor its current gas agreement with Russia until a new arrangement is reached. On the sidelines of the CIS Summit in Dushanbe on Sunday, President Yanukovych expressed his desire to review gas contracts via bilateral negotiations, but that as a last resort Ukraine would consider appealing to an international court of arbitration in Stockholm, according to the presidential website.
