In December, private deposits rose by 4.4% to USD 14.5 bln as of January 1, 2006. Since the beginning of 2005, private deposits have increased 76% (compared to 28.5% in 2004). The loan portfolio of Ukrainian banks grew by 8.5% to USD28.4 bln in December. Loan portfolios have grown 62% (30.6% for 2004) this year. Concorde Capital: Despite the slowdown of economic activity this year, consumer lending, boosted by growth in real incomes, became a main driver for banking activity expansion. 11M05 loans to individuals grew by 108% and increased its share in the total loan portfolio of banks to 28% from 15% in 2004. Corporate lending grew at a more moderate rate, 44.7% for the same period.
