Banks’ aggregate net income up 71% yoy in 1H08

Ukrainian banks increased their aggregate net income by 71% yoy to UAH 5.3 bln (USD 1.1 bln) in 1H08, Interfax said today, citing the National Bank of Ukraine. Banks’ aggregate earnings and expenditures rose 71% to UAH 48.6 bln (USD 10.0 bln) and UAH 43.3 bln (USD 8.9 bln), respectively. In 1H08, banks’ total assets grew 16.7% YTD to UAH 722.6 bln (USD 149.0 bln); while liabilities rose 16% YTD to UAH 614.7 bln (USD 126.7 bln). Bank’s book value increased 21.7% YTD to UAH 84.7 bln (USD 17.5 bln).
