Bogdan to form JV to make trolley buses in Russia

13 March 2009

Bogdan Corporation (LUAZ) Vice President Konstantin Vorushilin said yesterday that the company is exploring joint venture opportunities with St. Petersburg’s Vagonmash to produce trolley buses and subway cars in Russia. Vorushilin noted the potential of the Russian market, where nearly 70% of the country’s 50 ths trolley buses are worn out. Alexander Paraschiy: According to Bogdan, the Russian and Ukrainian partners are considering selling Vagonmash’s subway cars to Ukraine and Bogdans’ trolley buses in Russia. We believe this type of cooperation is realistic in the short to mid-term. It would allow Bogdan to enter the Russian market for public transportation vehicles, partially compensating for the production decline related to the drop in demand for cars.
