One of the company’s two ammonia aggregates, with 450 ths mt capacity, which had been shut down on October 2 for repairs, was reopened yesterday. Concorde Capital: Odessa Portside’s ammonia production grew by 9% yoy in January-September, a bit higher than the average growth level for this segment – 8%. Most fertilizer producers have been upgrading their ammonia and urea production aggregates this year to combat the threat of future gas price increases. The government had intended to privatize Odessa Portside in December 2005, however, parliament included it on a list of companies banned for privatization. In addition, the government is trying to split Odessa Portside’s unique ammonia storage and shipment facilities from its production facilities for ammonia and nitrogen fertilizers, so that the former would remain in state hands.
