Cabinet Transfers Minority Stakes In Six Oblenergos to the SPF

According to Alexander Potimkov, the deputy head of the State Property Fund of Ukraine, last Friday the Cabinet of Ministers approved a decision to transfer the remaining 25%-27% stakes in six Oblenergos to the SPF for preparation to their privatization. The Oblenergos on the privatization block are Odesaoblenergo (ODEN: SELL), Prykarpatoblenergo (PREN: HOLD), Lvivoblenergo (LVON: U/R), Chernihivoblenergo (CHEON: SELL), Sumyoblenergo (SOEN: N/R) and Poltavaoblenergo (POON: SELL). Alexander Paraschiy: This news recalls the events of September 2007 when the government of Viktor Yanukovich approved the transfer of six Oblenergo stakes from the National Energy Company to the SPF, but later the president blocked their privatization. We will wait for the President’s reaction this time.
