The Odesa Cement Plant and Yugcement (Mykolayiv oblast) reported that they had temporally turned off their furnaces due to limited gas deliveries. Stroyindustriya (Bakhchisaray), Dniprocement and Kryvy Rih Cement (both from Dnipropetrovsk oblast) and Kramatorsk Pushka also complained of lower than expected output due to gas shortages. Meanwhile cement producers have started introducing gas-savings technologies. The Ukrcement association of cement producers estimates that re-equiping all the Ukraine’s cement plants would require USD 784 mln in investments. Concorde Capital: To reduce their dependency on gas cement producers need to switch from the “wet” production process,(gas accounts for 60% of production costs) to the “dry” (gas amounts to 28% of costs). Presently only two cement companies Kryvy Rih Cement and Dniprocement, controlled by Heidelbergcement Group (Germany) use the “dry” production method.
