At Concorde Capital’s investment conference, “Strong and Resilient Ukrainian Energy as One of the Key Prerequisites for Ending the War,” representatives of the government, the energy sector, financial institutions and large businesses discussed practical conditions for attracting capital into energy and other sectors of the Ukrainian economy.
The conference was opened by Kyrylo Budanov, Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine. In his remarks, he emphasized the strategic importance of energy infrastructure for the Ukrainian economy.
Ihor Mazepa, Founder and CEO of Concorde Capital, emphasized the role of strong decentralized energy in strengthening Ukraine’s resilience and the need to rapidly turn the sector’s investment potential into real projects.
Artem Nekrasov, First Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine, spoke about preparing the energy system for winter, restoring damaged generation capacity, protecting infrastructure, accumulating reserve equipment, and developing distributed generation and Smart Grid solutions. According to him, Ukraine plans to restore 6.2 GW of generation capacity before the start of the 2026/2027 heating season, while 4 GW of capacity is already under repair.
Ivan Yuryk, Member of the Management Board of NPC Ukrenergo, presented details of the preparations for a tender to secure 1,505 MW of new generation capacity. The discussion focused on conditions for investors, the feed-in-premium mechanism, the need for flexible generation, operation during peak hours and instruments for partially covering war-related risks.
Andriy Kobolyev, former CEO of Naftogaz of Ukraine, pointed out that physical protection requirements for new energy facilities significantly affect project costs and may reduce investor interest unless such expenses are properly taken into account.
Yuriy Katsion, Chairman of the Management Board of Oschadbank, spoke about the banking sector’s readiness to finance long-term investment projects. According to him, capital investments already account for 27% of Oschadbank’s corporate loan portfolio, while half of the new large corporate projects currently under review are related to investment financing and capital expenditure.
Yuriy Kosyuk, Founder and CEO of MHP, spoke about the company’s energy autonomy, investments in Ukrainian projects and international expansion. According to him, MHP now covers almost all of its electricity needs with its own generation.
Sergiy Tigipko, Founder and Chairman of TAS Group, outlined the group’s investment priorities in the financial sector, agriculture, real estate development, logistics and port infrastructure. He also emphasized the need for a new economic strategy for Ukraine for the next 7 to 10 years.
Oleksandr Komarov, President of Kyivstar, presented the company’s investment focus on telecom, digital transformation and cloud infrastructure.
The conference confirmed that Ukraine’s energy sector has significant investment potential. Realizing this potential requires fast investment decisions, clear conditions for private capital, and effective cooperation between the government, regulators, the financial sector and business.
Concorde Capital will continue to serve as a platform for professional dialogue, partnerships and investment decisions that help strengthen Ukraine.
