Czech court rules against Ukraine’s extradition of former economy minister

Czech court rules against Ukraine’s extradition of former economy minister

10 February 2011

Yesterday a municipal court in Prague refused Ukraine’s request to extradite former Ukrainian Economy Minister Bogdan Danylyshyn, Ukrainian News reported, citing Danylyshyn’s lawyer. The main basis for the ruling was the Czech Republic’s decision to grant Danylyshyn political asylum on January 13. Danylyshyn, Ukraine’s economy minister from 2007-2010, was detained in the Czech Republic after Ukraine listed him as wanted pending a criminal investigation into abuse of office.
