Deposit Guarantee Fund to receive UAH 1 bln injection

At a press conference yesterday, Chairman of the National Bank of Ukraine’s Supervisory Council Petro Poroshenko said the NBU will grant a UAH 1 bln (USD ~203.3 mln) loan to the Deposit Guarantee Fund in order to double the guarantee on deposit accounts in domestic banks to UAH 100 ths (USD ~20.3 ths). Poroshenko said that the draft of the 2009 state budget provides for the UAH 1 bln to be repaid to the NBU.
