Dniproenergo records UAH 149 mln net loss in 1H09

Ukrainian power generator Dniproenergo (DNEN) finished 1H09 with a net loss of UAH 149.2 mln, vs. net income of UAH 15.1 mln in 1H08, Interfax reported yesterday. The company also said it had a gross loss of UAH 117.2 mln, vs. gross profit of UAH 152.2 mln in 1H08. Yegor Samusenko: All Ukrainian GenCos finished 1H09 with net losses due to regulatory limits on electricity prices and restrictions on coal prices. We expect the regulator to follow this policy until presidential elections in January 2010 and not allow GenCos to earn a profit this year.
