DTEK Energy gets new CEO

DTEK Energy gets new CEO

15 January 2021

Ildar Saleev, an experienced manager who built his
career at DTEK and related companies, has been appointed as new CEO of the coal
and electricity producer DTEK Energy (DTEKUA), DTEK reported on Jan. 14. The
current CEO of DTEK Energy, Dmytro Sakharuk, has been appointed as executive director
of the company’s parent holding DTEK Group. “The new DTEK Energy CEO is faced
with a tough challenge: preparing thermal power plants for the switch to a new
operation mode within the Ukrainian energy system, being an active participant
in the ancillary services market, and finding growth points by testing new
technologies,” the group’s CEO Maxim Timchenko commented.

Alexander Paraschiy: Based on
the recently announced strategy of DTEK Group (which is also active in natural
gas production and renewable energy), DTEK Energy is not a priority business
for the holding as it remains its biggest and the most troubled asset. The key
goal of the new top management will remain the same: complete another debt
restructuring task.

Meanwhile, we do not expect any radical changes in the
group with the recent management reshuffling, unless the strategic entity DTEK
Group and its CEO delegate more power to the management of controlled operating
companies like DTEK Energy.
