The European Commission set import duty for Ukrainian pipes supplied by Interpipe’s Nyzhnyodniprovsk Pipe (NITR) at 10.7%. The duty for other Ukrainian pipe producers was fixed at 44.1%. Eugene Cherviachenko: Exports to the EU are not crucial for Ukrainian pipe industry, however they are important for particular companies, namely Dnipropetrovsk Pipe (DTRZ) and Kominmet (DMZK); the companies’ exports to the EU amounted to 20% and 34% of sales in 2007, respectively. Interpipe, which received the lowest duty, focuses on other markets (70-80% of its exports go to CIS and Middle East). Specifically, two locally traded names, Novomoskovsk Pipe (NVTR) and Nyzhnyodniprovsk Pipe (NITR) export to CIS and Middle East 90% and 70-80% of their products.
