Evrotek gets regulatory OK to buy Intermarket

The Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine gave its assent for Evrotek to acquire more than 50% of Intermarket. Evrotek agreed to acquire 100% of Intermarket in March in a non-cash deal. Evrotek controls nine Fresh-branded supermarkets and six small-hypermarkets in Kharkiv, Kherson, Rivne, Yevpatoria, Kryviy Rih and Kerch; it was established in 1995. In 2008, Intermarket posted a net loss of UAH 167.2 mln; net income from sales of UAH 948.9 mln, and gross profit of UAH 133.6 mln. Intermarket manages seven Arsen supermarkets, Arsen and Sriblyastiy shopping centers, an Intermarket Cash & Carry store and a logistics center in Lviv.
