External merchandise trade deficit totals USD 12.5 bln in 8M08

Ukraine’s external merchandise trade deficit totalled USD 12.5 bln (9.6% of GDP) in 8M08, 2.1x higher than in the same period of 2007. In January-August, goods exports grew 48.5% yoy to USD 46.9 bln, while imports rose 60.0% yoy to USD 59.0 bln.
