The Ukrayinska Pravda news site released a list of candidates for key ministerial and government posts on Oct. 30, citing anonymous sources.
Zenon Zawada: Among the list of 11 candidates, we would dub five as progressive (Yuriy Lutsenko, Olga Bogomolets, Andriy Pyshniy, Volodymyr Groysman, Serhiy Kvit), two with alleged patterns of corruption (Anatoliy Matviyenko, Liudmyla Denysova), and three that we assess as neutral in their competence (Viktor Pynzenyk, Ostap Semerak, Pavlo Petrenko).
So it appears the winning parties from this weekend’s parliamentary elections are on the right track, more or less, in determining the new government. However, these names don’t inspire hope for the tectonic changes that the president has proposed. Instead, we expect reforms that will keep the Ukrainian state surviving on life support from such a caliber of candidates.
