Foreign direct investment in Ukraine amounts to USD 11 bln in 2008

The State Statistics Committee reported yesterday that foreign direct investment in Ukraine amounted to USD 10.9 bln, up 25.3% yoy. However, the FDI figure dropped markedly throughout the year: in 1Q08 FDI rose USD 3.4 bln, in 2Q08 by 3.6 bln, in 3Q08 by 1.2 bln and in 4Q08 FDI dropped USD 1.9 bln. Foreign capital in Ukraine dropped 22.1% yoy to USD 6.2 bln in 2008, according to the State Statistics Committee, after taking into account currency depreciation and other factors.
