GDP Continues 7.9% Growth in 5M07 - Official Statistics

Ukraine’s real GDP growth was above our expectations and remained steady at 7.9% in 5M07, according to the State Statistics Committee. The rise was in line with the 7.9% increase seen in 4M07, but just under the 8.0% boost in 1Q07. For the month of May, the GDP rose 7.7%. Growth was supported by trade (+15.5% yoy), manufacturing (+13.8% yoy) and construction (+11.1% yoy), which continued to be the three fastest growing sectors in the economy.
