Government to sell 71% of Cherkasyoblenergo in 2009

The state’s 71% stake in Cherkasyoblenergo (CHON) has been added to the official privatization list for 2009, according to a Cabinet of Ministers resolution dated April 28. The state controls 46% of Cherkasyoblenergo through the National Energy Company of Ukraine and another 25% through the state company UkrEsCo. Overall, the Cabinet expanded the list of assets in state ownership to be sold next year from 135 to 365. The government also now plans to put up for sale 11% of Mariupol Heavy Machinery (MZVM), 61.58% of Ukraine International Airlines and 60.86% of Makiyivka Steel.
