IFC to launch 10 projects in banking sector by mid-2010

20 October 2009

The International Finance Corporation plans to implement 10 projects in the Ukrainian banking sector by July 2010, Interfax reported yesterday, citing IFC representative Elena Voloshina. The projects will facilitate loans to support liquidity, shore up working capital and deal with problematic assets. The IFC is also looking at programs that would renew SME lending and micro-credits, particularly to insurance and agricultural businesses. In 2010, the IFC plans to double its investment in Ukraine from last year, when it injected USD 192 mln.
